The eternal battle of light vs. dark…
I made the mistake of listening to a focus group that told me that they overwhelmingly preferred a white / light website with dark / black text over a dark site with white / light text. It was way more than 2/3 majority. It seemed, according to this group at least, one of those “no brainers”.
So we launched a white website. Super clean and bright. I loved it as did everyone who worked on it. The editors who publish to it cheered in delight when they saw it live. So, great success! Right? White site = WIN! Right?
Wrong. It turns out the basement dweller trolls that frequent this site view it in very dim lighting, deep in their caves, probably fapping to pics of the girls on the site while they read the overly heady humor and try with all their might to get their head around our largely incomprehensible headlines. These kids need to get a little sunlight. I legitimately might have blinded one of them.
It really does look better white. The battle will certainly continue…
